As we continue to move away from fee-for-service and toward prospective payment, it’s helpful to talk with doctors who have dealt with both payment models. Dr. Stephen Buksh sits on our board of directors here at Catalyst Health Network, but is also a practicing physician who deals with both fee-for-service and capitated payment models through programs like Medicare Advantage. In this episode, we discuss some of the benefits and drawbacks that come along with a capitated payment model, and the ways that his practice has pivoted to optimize for patient care instead of visit volume as they continue to pursue better patient outcomes.
