Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist and Registered Dietician Join Care Team

Catalyst Health Network is pleased to welcome Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist, Crysta Delin, and Registered Dietician Mayra Rivas, to the Catalyst Health Network Care Team! Their experience and insights will help patients with chronic conditions receive the care and support they deserve on their health journeys.

If a patient is identified as needing support from Crysta and/or Mayra, the physician or practice should utilize the same process normally used for Care Team referrals. That is, refer the patient to the Comprehensive Care Support (CCS) program, and their Care Manager will reach out to coordinate the basic intake process prior to connecting the patient to Crysta and/or Mayra. As always, it is a best practice to include instructions/direction for the Care Team on the initial referral indicating CCS is being ordered.

Crysta Delin, MS, RD, LD, CDCES

Diabetes Education Specialist

Crysta Delin, MS, RD, LD, CDCES is a Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Education Specialist for Catalyst Health Network. She completed her undergraduate studies in nutrition and dietetics at Texas State University in San Marcos, then went on to complete her dietetic internship and master’s degree in Nutrition Science at Texas Woman’s University in Houston in 2014.

Crysta worked as a dietitian and diabetes educator at a primary care practice in Houston for over 6 years before joining Catalyst Health Network. She has a special interest in diabetes and became a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist in 2018. Before she was a dietitian, Crysta lived in Denton, TX for a short time where she worked as a diet technician for Baylor University Medical Center. She is passionate about empowering patients to manage their chronic diseases through lifestyle and dietary changes.

Crysta was born in Houston, TX but moved to Saudi Arabia when she was 3 years old where she lived for over 12 years. She currently lives in Houston with her husband and her dog Chuy, a Chihuahua/Maltese mix. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, baking French macaron cookies, listening to live music (especially in New Orleans!), cheering on the Cowboys, and traveling the world.

Mayra Rivas, MS, RD, LD

Registered dietician

Mayra Rivas, MS, RD, LD is a Registered Dietitian for the Catalyst Health Network. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with her bachelor’s degree in Nutrition. She completed her master’s and dietetic internship through Texas Tech University.

Mayra was born and raised in Dallas, TX but moved to Lubbock for internship and then Houston for her first Registered Dietitian job! In Houston she worked as an outpatient dietitian for Harris Health System. In this position she was able to support a wide variety of patients with different health conditions. Mayra has experience working with people of different cultures and age groups, from pediatrics to the older adult. It brings Mayra joy to be able work with people to support and empower positive changes to help them manage their chronic diseases.

In her spare time, Mayra enjoys spending time with her family, experimenting in the kitchen, enjoying the outdoors whenever Texas has good weather and traveling.
